PEC RIVER MINHOis a geographic web platform that collects and exposes lascientific information physical, biological and ecologicalavailable on the hydrographic basin of the river Miño,especially in its international area.
The main objective is to help spread scientific knowledge and promote environmental awareness.
This platform hasdo created under the MIGRA MIÑO–MINHO PROJECT (Cross-Border Program INTERREG VA Spain – Portugal (POCTEP) 2014-2020).

The river
The Miño River is located in the northwestern end of the Iberian Peninsula.It is the most important and abundant in Galicia and one of the largest in the Iberian Peninsula.
Born in Pedregal de Irimia (Lugo), about 700 meters high. It has318km longand in the last 78 km it acts as a border between Spain and Portugal. At its mouth in the Atlantic Ocean it forms an important estuary. Its most important tributary is the Sil River.
The origin of its name is highly disputed, but it most likely comes from pre-Indo-European hydronyms.
